Susan Mott is a British born Canadian Artist. She has lived in Ontario and Boston and now lives in Montreal. Susan’s professional life was as and Interior Designer and Architectural Technologist. Travelling extensively for both business and pleasure has given her a keen eye for architectural details, an awareness of nature throughout the seasons and an understanding of the human condition. Susan was raised in an enquiring environment. Creative Arts was her passion and she has returned to the pursuit of her art. She has always enjoyed this creative process: oil painting, model making, stain glass, crafts and watercolour painting. Watercolour painting gives Susan the most pleasure. Susan also passes on her love of the creative arts to others. She teaches a variety of classes in her studio and at her home.

Of her chosen medium; watercolour, Susan says: “I find that the complexity of achieving the desired end result is exciting. I love the challenge, I love the unexpected, and I love the sense of accomplishment. Because of my design and architectural background I started painting buildings, doorways and windows. However, through my work with my students I expanded my repertoire into landscapes, flowers and animals. I satisfy my artistic soul through all the various subjects that I paint: house portraits, pet portraits, landscapes, flowers and abstracts.”

Susan Mott est une artiste canadienne née en Grande-Bretagne. Elle a habité en Ontario, à Boston, et vit maintenant à Montréal. Sa carrière professionnelle a été celle d’un designer d’intérieur et technologue architectural. Le fait d’avoir voyagé intensément, tant par affaire que par plaisir, lui a proféré le goût des éléments architecturaux, la conscience de la nature tout au long des saisons ainsi qu’une compréhension de la condition humaine. L’aquarelle lui procure le plus grand plaisir. Susan partage, avec les autres, son affection pour les arts créatifs, puisqu’elle enseigne différentes techniques à son studio et à la maison. Parlant d’aquarelle, son médium préféré, Susan trouve « excitante la difficulté d’arriver au résultat désiré ». Elle adore donc le défi, l’imprévu et le sentiment d’accomplissement lorsqu’elle y parvient. « J’ai tout d’abord peint des édifices, des entrées et des fenêtres, sans doute à cause de ma formation. Cependant, j’ai élargi mon répertoire au contact de mes étudiants. Je peins maintenant aussi des paysages, des fleurs et des animaux. Je satisfais mon âme artistique à travers les sujets que j’aborde : les portraits de maison, d’animaux domestiques ; les fleurs, les paysages et même le non-figuratif.
